In many countries, attorneys are licensed to practice law by a national authority and can practice law nation wide regardless which locality the attorney’s office is situated. However, in the United States an attorney obtain a license from by each state where he/she is practicing law. If your case has no connection with New York, you should seek an attorney authorized to practice law in your state. As a New York attorney, Ms. Kohtz provides legal advice about New York law, including the uniformed laws enacted by New York, and federal law, which also contains a body of international private law treaties. Our litigation practice is restricted within New York State except when specific permitted by a local court of another jurisdiction. Ms. Kohtz has acted as a co-counsel with other attorneys and has appeared as an expert witness in other jurisdictions.
